Is Abortion Safe ?

Is abortion safe? – Medical abortion

This is probably the absolute safest abortion process available simply does not involve any kind of procedures. Abortion medication works in a way that kick-start a spontaneous abortion within the women, causing the uterus to reject the egg cells that has been fertilized. The patient may experience cramps and bleeding during the treatment but that is fully expected and is no cause for alarm. The whole thing will be over in just a matter of days after the doctor has proven the treatment was successful. The only risk involved are an allergic reaction to the medicine or some kind of unexplainable complication that always can happen during medical treatment.

Is abortion safe? – Suction-aspiration abortion

The suction-aspiration is probably the safest surgical abortion available since it only requires a limited amount of intrusion into the uterus. Although it is theoretically possible to, through carelessness, damage the uterus with the surgical instrument used during this procedure it is more or less unheard of, instead it is the risk of infection that is the major problem. Although the risk of infection only is 0.5% it needs to be taken seriously so one can be prepared for it if it happens. The infection is generally easy to treat so there is commonly no real danger involved, but it sure can be a nuisance.

Is abortion safe? – Dilate and evacuation abortion

Because this procedure only is done in the later stages of the pregnancy it involves far more danger than any of the above, the rule of thumb is the longer you wait the less safe it becomes. This procedure has dangers that the other ones do not even get close to since the surgeon performing it will have to insert sharp objects into the uterus a number of times and work totally in the blind, not being able to see what happens. The surgeon is a highly trained professional so mistakes do not generally happen, but when they do the consequences can be dire.
