The rule of thumb when it comes to abortions is that the earlier it is performed the safer it is and therefore one should not wait for too long before deciding what to do. A medical abortion is considered to be the safest way to go but it also means that one needs to have decided as early as 12 weeks from conception. The surgical suction-aspiration abortion is also rather safe but does include a threat of infection. The surgical dilation and evacuation can be life threatening if the surgeon makes any kind of mistake and the procedure for very late pregnancies is not preferred at all due to the safety of the patient. Time is of the essence.

Different countries have different rules concerning abortions so it is best to get familiarized with them as soon as possible. Some countries flat out forbids abortions, even though it is the result of a rape, while most others are a bit more liberal and allows abortions although have some regulations so that it will not become an alternative to normal contraception.
